There were two new deaths due to COVID-19 reporting in Manitoba today, increasing the toll to 1,102.
- a woman in her 50s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 variant of concern; and
- a man in his 80s from the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region.
Health officials also announced 124 new cases of the virus, bringing Manitoba's total to 54,481.
Of the new cases; four are in the Interlake-Eastern health region, seven in Prairie Mountain health, 14 in the Northern health region, 19 in Southern health, and 80 in the Winnipeg health region.
In Prairie Mountain Health, 232 new cases are active, 34 of those are in Brandon, and 3,111 are active province-wide. There is also 297 covid patients currently hospitalized in Manitoba and neighbouring provinces, and a total of 86 receiving intensive care. The current five day test positivity rate decreased slightly to 10.7 per cent provincially, down from 10.8 on Sunday (June 13).
Meantime, the total number of variant of concern cases in Manitoba sits at 13,603. Of those, 1,120 have been discovered in Prairie Mountain Health.
