211 new cases and one additional death due to COVID-19 reported in Manitoba

The province is reporting another death due to COVID-19, a woman in her 90s connected to the outbreak at the Health Centre in Russell, MB., increasing the toll to 960. 

Health officials also announced 211 new cases, however, eight have been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 203 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 36,470.  

Of the new cases; seven are in the Southern health region, 14 are in the Interlake-Eastern health region, 25 in the Northern health region, 27 in Prairie Mountain health, and 138 in the Winnipeg health region. 

In Prairie Mountain health, 117 cases remain active, 22 of those are in Brandon, while province-wide there are 1,783. There are also 66 covid patients currently is hospital battling the virus, and 18 in intensive care units. The current five-day test positivity rate increased slightly to six per cent provincially, up from 5.7 on Monday (Apr 19). 

Meantime, the province identified another 63 new screened or sequenced cases of covid variants, This brings the total number of variant of concern cases in Manitoba to 774, 36 of which have been in Prairie Mountain health.
