Brandon police have charged a 32-year-old Winnipeg man with manslaughter in the death of a 40-year-old man from Brandon. Police say at about 3:05 am last Friday, police and fire/paramedics were called to a residence in the 1800 block of Rosser Avenue, after a report a man had been stabbed in the neck. Police say the suspect fled on foot, but was apprehended with the help of the police service dog unit. The victim was pronounced dead in hospital from the injuries he sustained. The suspect has been remanded in custody to October 24, on charges of manslaughter and several breaches of court orders, including abstain from alcohol, not to possess weapons, and a curfew. It is believed the individuals were known to each other.

At 2:40 pm Saturday, Brandon police received a report of a stolen vehicle. A 2015 Dodge Journey (Manitoba license KRG 847) was parked in the 1000 block of 18th Street at 12:30 AM. When the owner returned it was gone. The matter is still under investigation.

At approx. 4:15 PM Saturday, Brandon police officers observed a male who is known to them running from a business in the 1900 block of Queens Crescent. The male was stopped and it was learned that he had been pepper sprayed, and was trying to get away. Further investigation revealed the 17 year old male was currently the subject of an outstanding warrant of arrest from Lundar MB., for robbery, theft of motor vehicle and pointing a firearm. The male has been released from custody and will appear in Ashern on December 14.

At approx. 5:15 PM Saturday, police were called to a disturbance at a residence on Cornell Bay. Police say a male and female were intoxicated and having an argument. The 24 year old female was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear. She was arrested and later released to a family member, with a court date of November 28. The 24 year old male was held at BPS until sober.
Arrest Warrants:
At approx. 6:30 PM Saturday, a male was at BPS on an unrelated matter when it was learned that the Virden RCMP held a warrant for his arrests. He was arrested and will be held for court later today.
On July 4 2022, a 27 year old male was released from custody and was on conditions to reside at a certain address in Brandon. Early this morning police attended to that address to conduct a curfew check. The person responsible there said they had no idea who the male was. As a result, a warrant will be requested for his arrest, for failing to comply with his release order.
An 18 year old female was arrested from a taxi cab when the driver called to say he required help as she was so intoxicated. Officers contacted her family, who was not willing to help. As a result, she was held in custody until sober, to ensure her safety.
