Brandon police arrest man for allegedly assaulting a police officer

On Wednesday, July 21st at 4:55 AM, officers checked on a male who was found passed out on the sidewalk in the 600 block of Pacific Avenue. Upon approaching him, he became uncooperative and combative. He was also observed to be highly intoxicated. During the altercation, police say the male punched an officer, and a Taser was deployed to gain control of him. The male was confirmed to be on an Undertaking with a condition to abstain from the consumption of alcohol and drugs. A 33-year-old man was arrested for Fail to Comply with Undertaking, Resist Arrest, and Assaulting a Police Officer.

On July 20th at 11:55 AM, Brandon police responded to the 300 block of 2nd Street for report of a break and enter to a porch. They say the caller indicated that suspects had cut the screen on an open window gaining access to the porch. This happened sometime between Friday, July 16th at 6:00 PM and Tuesday, July 20th at 6:00 PM. A can of bug spray was stolen. Anyone with information regarding this B&E is encouraged to contact Brandon Police Service at 204-729-2345 or https://www.brandon.ca/police-contact/police-contact

On July 20th at 1:58 PM, BPS says officers observed a male walking with open liquor in the 300 block of 9th Street. Upon stopping to speak with the male, officers also observed an open folding pocket knife sticking out of his pocket. The accused was confirmed to be on a Release Order with a condition to only possess a knife while eating. A 28-year-old man was arrested and released to appear in court on August 16th, 2021.

On July 20th at 3:23 PM, Winnipeg Police Service reported they had a male in custody on the strength of a Brandon Police Service Warrant for Failing to Attend Court and Failing to Comply with Recognizance Order. A 26-year-old man was released to appear in Brandon court on October 12th, 2021.

On July 21 at 1:19 AM, officers attended to Cornell Bay on an unrelated matter. While in the area, a 27-year-old woman was located who was confirmed to have an outstanding warrant of arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fail to Attend Court x2, and Fail to Attend Ident. The accused was arrested and released to appear in court on September 16th, 2021.

On July 20th at 9:22 PM, officers responded to the 300 block of 11th Street for report of a break and enter. The caller indicated that suspects had entered the residence sometime during the day. There were no signs of forced entry.  A bicycle valued at approx. $900, unknown make or model, was stolen. On July 20th at 10:33 PM, officers responded to a complaint in the 500 block of Princess Avenue. Upon attending to the location and speaking with the complainant, she became uncooperative, escalated, and would not calm down. To avoid further issues, the 23-year-old woman was lodged.

On July 20th at 10:54 PM, officers responded, again, to the 500 block of Princess Avenue for report of a disturbance. The caller indicated that her boyfriend was intoxicated and yelling to get inside. He had been asked to leave the residence earlier in the evening because he was causing problems. Upon attending to the area, a 36-year-old man was located, arrested, and lodged to prevent further issues.  He will be released when sober.    

On July 21st at 1:27 AM, officers responded to report of a male causing a disturbance in the 1500 block of 26th Street. The caller and other occupants of the home indicated the suspect was intoxicated and was argumentative. Upon officers attending, a 44-year-old man remained escalated and would not calm down. He was arrested lodged to be released when sober.

On July 21st at 4:25 AM, officers checked on a female in the 100 block of Rosser Avenue. She was observed to be intoxicated with no place to stay. A 49-year-old woman was lodged to be released when sober.
