Samaritan House, Brandon University, and Assiniboine Community College collect food donations

The goal was 10,000 pounds food, and the Halloween Food Drive in Brandon, came pretty close.

John Jackson, at Samaritan House, is grateful for all the donations that totalled 6,034 pounds.

He says volunteers from Samaritan House, the Brandon University Students Union, and Assiniboine Community College Students Association fanned out to gather food across the city.

Jackson says the food will be split between Samaritan House and BUSU. ACC students who need the services of a food bank are usually directed by the college to Samaritan House.

Next up for Samaritan House is the Christmas Village fundraiser.

Jackson says, "as Christmas is approaching, we know that folks start to think about giving and charities. The Food Bank at Samaritan House continues to be our the highest volume, and we need all the support we can get."  The Christmas fundraiser is December 3rd.
