A chemical used in making a baby gate has Health Canada issuing a recall.
Bily Retractable Safety Gates are being recalled because of an excess of barium on the coating of the metal tubes.
The item numbers are BG370018, with manufacturing dates of May 8, 2019 and July 30, 2019 - and BG370200, with manufacturing dates of May 8, 2019, July 30, 2019 and Aug. 10, 2019.
The manufacturing date code label can be found on the bottom of the gate.
Health Canada has determined the products do not meet safety requirements.
Barium exposure can lead to vomiting and stomach cramps - so far, no illnesses have been reported.
The government says anyone who purchased a Bily Retractable Safety Gate with those model numbers should stop using it - and ask for a repair kit.
