The Minnedosa Regional Library has officially reopened to the public, this after heavy rain's last summer caused widespread flooding in the town, forcing the building to close.

Head Librarian, Linda Cook, says within days of the flood, members of the community came together to help with removing books from shelves, removing the carpet and dismantling shelving.

"Fans and De-humidifiers were bought and left on for an extended period", cook noted. "The books were left in the building on pallets and in boxes and very few were lost. We still have the majority of our collection."

The reopening symbolizes all the hard work that's been put into the library since last June. Cook says, the walls were replaced and painted, and new flooring was installed.

The staff, who had been laid off for five months, were called back to work in mid December. Cook says they spent numerous hours organizing and shelving books, arranging furniture and cleaning from top to bottom.

However, cook noted some of the library's usual services are still unavailable at this time.

The Library's hours of operation are 10 am to 4 pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
