The senior hockey team in Morden, previously named the Redskins, will now go by the Bombers.
The organization dropped the Redskins nickname following a push against the use of Indigenous names for sports teams.
In July, the town's mayor said he considered the name Redskins derogatory, adding he'd cover any costs associated with changing the name through fundraising efforts, and his own personal finances.
The Morden Bombers are part of the South East Manitoba Hockey League, that includes teams from Winkler, Carmen, Notre Dame, Altona, Warren, and Portage.
Other teams are considering similar moves including the Neepawa Natives of the MJHL. The NFL's Washington Football team dropped Redskins and Edmonton's CFL team dropped the name Eskimos earlier this year.
