Postponements and Closures in Westman 

Below is a running list of local closures, postponements and cancelled events due to Covid-19 virus. Keeping you as up to date as possible!

Education, Military and Family Services  

  • Brandon University – closed campus  
  • Manitoba Licensed Day Cares – closed 
  • Brandon School Division – all play structures on division properties are closed 
  • Rolling River School Division – All play structures on school division grounds are closed 
  • Brandon University cancelled all in-person classes, moved to online 
  • Assiniboine Community College suspends in-person classes, moved to online  
  • Manitoba Schools suspended starting March 23 until April 10 
  • University of Winnipeg suspends in-person classes  
  • Shilo Military Family Resource Centre: limited access, Contact 204-765-3000 ext.3352   
  • Brandon Literacy Council Inc. – all classes suspended until April 10 
  • CFB Shilo- effective immediately until April 6, access to the Base will be limited to the Main Gate or south entrance. All visitors (non DND/CAF personnel) will be prohibited from entering the Base, and contractors and other non-DND/CAF personnel who have business on the base will not be granted access if they are symptomatic 

Health

  • PMH (Prairie Mountain Health) Facilities: Visitor Restrictions in place - No visitors will be allowed exceptions: 
    • One Visitor may be allowed to the following areas once you have been screened inside the entrance: 
      • Maternity Ward/ NICU 
      • Emergency department 
      • Pediatric ward 
      • Compassionate reasons for end of life will be made on a case-by-case basis  
  • The Prairie Mountain Health, Healthy Baby Program (offered across the health region) has been cancelled until further notice.

Open but Modified Businesses  

  • Manitoba Liquor Mart - open with reduced hours  
    • Monday-Saturday 10a-8p, Sunday 12p-6p 
  • Walmart - open to the public with adjusted hours:  
    • Dedicated shopping hour for seniors, those with mobility concerns, and vulnerable members of the community only are 7a-8a Monday-Friday 
    • Regular shopping hours are: 8a-8p   
    • Online grocery pickup and delivery services are not affected by this change 
  • Bulk Barn- reduced hours but still open. New hours Monday-Friday 10a-6p and Sunday 11a-5p 
  • Humpty’s Restaurant Brandon - open but reduced hours: 10a - 8p 
  • Oak Lake Canteen @ The Rink – business as usual, pickup/takeout available, plenty of parking for truckers coming in off #1 highway 
  • Chez Angela's - closed to dine-in - open for pick up  
    • Open Wednesday – Friday 7a-6p, Saturday 9a-6p, Sunday – Tuesday closed 
  • Mums Restaurant - Mon-Fri: 7am-7pm. Weekends: 8am-7pm. Pickup & Delivery is highly recommended  
  • Home Depot – open to the public; adjusting closing hours as of March 21 to 6:00pm 
  • Sobeys South – open to the public Monday- Saturday 8a-8p Sunday 10a-6p 
    • Dedicated shopping hour for seniors, those with mobility concerns, and vulnerable members of the community only are 7a-8a Monday-Saturday and 9a-10a Sunday 
  • Prairie Oasis - closed for 30 days- still offering Meals on Wheels 
  • MP Brandon-Souris Office (Larry Maguire) – closed to public, open to phone calls and email 
  • Original Joes – closed to dine-in, open to take-away and delivery 
  • Boston Pizza Brandon - closed to dine-in, open to take-away and delivery  
  • Tastee’s Ice Cream and Grill – closed to dine-in, take-away only from 12p-8p. 
  • Shoppers Mall Food Court Seating Area – closed, open to take-away only 
  • Boston Pizza Virden- closed to dine-in- take-away and delivery still available 
  • Dick Agencies – closed to walk-in traffic – call for an appointment  
  • Gone Scrappin’ In Bloom, Rossburn – open from 8a-9:30a & 2p-4p Monday – Friday, orders available by phone call or facebook messenger 
  • Aida’s Catering – closed – offering free delivery starting March 23 
  • Pizza Express – closed to dine-in – open for take-away and delivery 
  • Real Canadian Superstore – open regular hours.   
    • Dedicated shopping hours Tuesday and Friday 6a-7a for seniors and those living with disabilities 
  • Heritage Co-op Food Stores – open regular hours 
    • Dedicated shopping hour - one hour earlier each day for seniors, those with mobility concerns, and vulnerable members of the community  
  • Shoppers Drug Mart – open regular hours 
    • Dedicated shopping for the first hour of the day for seniors and those living with disabilities 
    • Supermarket will be open from 7a-8p.  
  • Browns Socialhouse - closed to dine-in - open for take-away and delivery 
  • East Side Mario’s - closed to dine-in - open for delivery  
  • Pizza Hut - closed to dine-in - open for take-away and delivery  
  • Twin Valley Co-op - open (grocery delivery available for seniors, members who are ill or immune-compromised and persons in self-quarantine in Birtle, Elkhorn and Miniota) 
  • Forbidden Flavours - closed to dine-in, drive thru open 6a-9p Monday-Friday and 8a-9p Saturday-Sunday  
  • McDonald’s - closed to dine-in and pickups/curbside service - drive thru open  
  • Tim Hortons - closed to dine-in - drive thru open 
  • Shoppers Mall - open regular hours.
    • Note: individual businesses have the option to reduced hours: Monday-Friday 11a-7p and Saturday-Sunday 11a-6p
