Eight tickets issued in relation to gatherings in private residences
Fewer COVID-19 enforcement fines were handed out last week, but the dollar amount was still over $11,000.
The province says, from April 5 to 11, a total of 100 warnings and 13 tickets were issued, totaling $11,858.
The tickets include;
- eight $1,296 tickets to individuals for various offences; and
- five $298 tickets to individuals for failure to wear a mask in indoor public places.
Three of the eight $1,296 tickets issued last week were in relation to gatherings in private residences or outdoors.
Officials note that most Manitobans are doing their part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and are following the fundamentals. However, education and enforcement remain necessary in some instances.
The public is reminded that abusive and aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated, and criminal offences will be reported to police and investigated.
Since enforcement efforts began in April 2020, a total of 3,683 warnings and 1,159 tickets have been issued, resulting in more than $1.5 million in fines to businesses and individuals.
