14 new cases identified in Prairie Mountain Health

The province is reporting another two deaths due to COVID-19, increasing the toll to 1,089.
- a woman in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region; and
- a woman in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 variant of concern.
Health officials also announced 223 new cases, however, one case has been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 222 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 53,872.
Of the new cases; 14 are in Prairie Mountain health, 20 in the Interlake-Eastern health region, 27 in the Northern health region, 36 in Southern health, and 126 in the Winnipeg health region.
In Prairie Mountain Health, 225 cases remain active, including 36 in Brandon, and there are 3,490 active cases province-wide. There are also 306 covid patients in hospitals in Manitoba and neighbouring provinces, and 93 in intensive care units. The current five-day test positivity rate decreased slightly to 10.6 per cent provincially, down from 11.1 on Thursday (June 10).
Meanwhile, the total number of variant of concern cases in Manitoba increased to 13,406. Of those, 1,108 have been discovered in Prairie Mountain Health.
The province has also declared the outbreak at Dauphin Regional Health Centre's surgery unit over.
