Province reporting 65 new cases and one additional death due to COVID-19

The province is reporting one new death due to COVID-19, a man in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, increasing the toll to 1,151. 

Health officials also announced 65 new cases, bringing Manitoba's total to 56,482. 

Of the new cases; five are in the Northern health and Southern health regions, nine in the Interlake-Eastern health region, 11 in Prairie Mountain Health (PMH), and 35 in the Winnipeg health region. 

In PMH, 80 cases remain active, 13 of which are in Brandon, while province-wide there are 1,022. There's also a total of 156 covid patients hospitalized in Manitoba and neighbouring provinces, and 46 receiving intensive care. 

Meanwhile, the current five day test positivity rate sits at 6.3 per cent provincially, and the total number of variant of concern cases in Manitoba increased slightly to 15,598. Of those, 1,295 have been discovered in Prairie Mountain Health.
