Hunter discovered bones close to Highway 1A in the R-M of Cornwallis
RCMP say the human remains that were found have been identified as 46 year-old Jason Riley.
According to the Brandon Police he had been initially reported missing on May 8th, 2019. The cause of death has yet to be determined. Blue Hills RCMP along with the assistance of the Chief Medical Examiner's Office continue to investigate.
Blue Hills RCMP responded to a call, last Saturday (Oct 26), of possible human remains located in a wooded area close to Highway 1A in the RM of Cornwallis.
Officers were advised that the caller was hunting in the area when he came across a bone he believed to be human.
Officers attended the scene, and with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Service from Brandon and the RCMP Search and Rescue team, more human bones were located in the area.
The investigation of the remains is ongoing with the assistance of the Chief Medical Examiner's office. Blue Hills RCMP continue to investigate.
