4-3 win Saturday night

The Brandon Wheat Kings picked up a huge two-points on Saturday night in a 4-3 win vs the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The win makes it two in a row for Brandon and snapped a three-game Tiger winning streak. It was also the third consecutive win over the Tigers this season.

Brandon was outshot 38-19 but buckled down defensively and got some timely saves on route to the victory.

"I like how invested we are in this game," said Assistant Coach Don MacGillivray. "We did a lot of really good things tonight. It was a typical road game, we grinded it out, everyone chipped in and we got the job done."

Luka Burzan (1G-1A) and Braden Schnieder (2A) had multi-point nights for Brandon while Vinny Iorio, Duncan Pierce and Ben McCartney did the scoring for the BWK.

"We did a really good job in our own end tonight," added MacGillivray. "We did a real good job of getting pucks deep and playing hard tonight. Guys were getting in lanes, blocking shots and doing the little things. Full mark the group tonight they all did their jobs."

Brandon made it 4-1 with just over three minutes to play on an empty net goal from Burzan, but the Tigers responded with two goals in a span of 1:53 to cut the lead to one. Despite the late pressure, the Tigers were unable to draw even.

"We did a great job at the end of the game," said MacGillivray. "We got some timely blocks, stayed nice and tight and Jiri was there for us, especially with the save late in the game and the heads up play to move the puck and let the clock run."

Jiri Patera kicked aside 35 shots for the win while Mads Sogaard stopped 15 shots between the pipes for the Tigers.

The road trip ends with the Wheat Kings 2-2-0-0, earning 4 of a possible 8 points. Brandon now heads into Super Bowl Sunday in third in the East Division, four points up on Saskatoon and just one point behind the Winnipeg ICE for 2nd place.

Brandon scratched Ethan Kruger (Lower Body), Riley Ginnell (Healthy) and Neithan Salame (Illness). Attendance at the Canalta Centre was 2,950
