On June 27, 2022 shortly before 7:00 pm, Brandon police responded to a report of an assault on the Daly Overpass. Police say a 25-year-old man allegdly attacked a 72-year-old man who was watching the construction of the new bridge. They say in the unprovoked attack, the suspect reportedly tried to strangle the victim using a type of shoelace. The victim was able to fight off the suspect by flipping him over his shoulder and restraining him. A passerby assisted in restraining the suspect until police arrived. Police arrested the suspect and lodged him at Brandon Police Service. He will appear in court today on charges of Assault by Choking, Possess Weapon Dangerous, Breach of Probation and Assault with Weapon. Alcohol is believed to have played a factor in the suspect’s behavior. The victim did not require medical attention.

On June 27, 2022 shortly after 10:00 pm, police responded to a report of an accident involving a vehicle and a cyclist on Lorne Avenue E at the intersection of Park Street. Police say the motorist was reportedly travelling west bound and attempted to make a left hand turn south onto Park Street just as the cyclist was travelling eastbound on Lorne Avenue. The 45-year-old male cyclist sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to be treated at the hospital. The 24-year-old male driver was issued a fine under the Highway Traffic Act for Drive Without a Valid License.

On June 27, 2022 shortly after 10:00 pm, Brandon police responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence in the 500 block of 22nd Street. As police arrived at the residence, they say the female suspect was just leaving. Investigation revealed the door had been forced in order to gain entry. A 28-year-old woman was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Break and Enter and Unlawful in a Dwelling.

On June 11, 2022, police received a report of an attempted break and enter to a residence in the 2100 block of Richmond Avenue. Police say the suspect attempted to gain entry using a steal pipe and a machete at approximately 5:00 am that day. Security footage assisted police in identifying a 34-year-old man. On June 27, 2022, a suspect was located and arrested. He will appear in court on September 12, 2022 on charges of Possess Weapon Dangerous and Attempt Break and Enter.

On June 27, 2022 at approximately 6:30 pm, Brandon police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence. Police allege an intoxicated female youth was causing problems, but left the home just as the complainant was calling for assistance. At 7:00 pm, the same 16-year-old female attended to Brandon Police Service on her own. Due to her intoxication, she was lodged at Brandon Police Service as she was from a rural address, and she was not welcome back at the residence so she had nowhere to go.

On June 28, 2022 at approximately 2:30 am police responded to a report of a disturbance in a residence. Investigation revealed that a 22-year-old intoxicated male was yelling and screaming, and the others in the home were unable to prevent his actions from escalating. He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On June 27, 2022 at approximately 9:00 am, Brandon police responded to a report of a male who appeared to be checking residential properties to allegedly steal package deliveries. Police located a 51-year-old man who they say was in possession of property believed to be stolen. To prevent his behavior from continuing he was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service.

On June 27, 2022, police located and arrested a 25-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Theft Under $5000 and Fail to Attend Court. He was later released to appear in court on August 22, 2022.
On June 28, 2022, police located and arrested a 23-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Aggravated Assault. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.
On June 28, 2022, police located and arrested a 45-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with Court Order and Fail to Comply with Probation. He was later released to appear in court in September.
