BPS seized drugs and weapons in search of Princess Avenue residence

A 48-year-old woman faces several charges including trafficking

On March 8, 2023, members of the Brandon Police Service Organized Crime Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on a residence in the 2100 block of Princess Avenue.  Upon entry, police located a 48-year-old female in the residence with methamphetamine, a scale, packaging material and cash sitting in front of her.  During the search of the residence, police located approximately 1 kilogram of cocaine, 5 ounces of methamphetamine, cash, and numerous weapons including swords, a machete, a compound bow and a BB handgun.  A loaded .22 caliber rifle with ammunition was also located in the male occupant’s bedroom.  Numerous other tools, which are believed to have been stolen, were also recovered from the residence. 

The 48-year-old female was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine and Cocaine, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (Proceeds) and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.  She was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and she will appear in court today.  The male occupant from the residence was not home at the time of the search warrant.  As a result, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.

While members of Brandon Police Service Organized Crime Section were executing the search warrant at the residence in the 2100 block of Princess Avenue, two males showed up at the residence.  One of the males was on a Release Order with a daily curfew.  The 42-year-old male was arrested for Failing to comply with a Release Order.  He was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and he will appear in court today.

On March 8, 2023, police attended a residence on Willowdale Crescent for a disturbance.  Upon arrival, police observed a male jumping out a window and fleeing on foot.  The 22-year-old male was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.  The male was known to have an outstanding warrant for Failing to comply with a Release Order.  During a search incidental to his arrest, police located a knife, a collapsible baton, stolen cheques, ammunition, a digital scale, packaging material, cash and a small amount of meth, cocaine and crack cocaine. 

The male was ultimately charged with the following offences: Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x2, Carry a Concealed Weapon x2, Possession of Ammunition while Prohibited, Fail to comply with a Release Order x5, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (Proceeds), Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Crack Cocaine, and Fail to comply with a Probation Order.  The male was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and he appeared in court yesterday.

On March 8, 2023, Brandon police received a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 800 block of Frederick Street. Members attended and located a 36-year-old male who was on conditions not to attend the residence and not to communicate with the female at the residence.  The male was arrested for Failing to comply with an Undertaking x2.  He also had an outstanding charge of Fail to Appear in Court.  He was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and he is scheduled to appear in court today.

On March 8, 2023, police observed a male in the 800 block of Frederick Street with a large knife sticking out of his pocket. The 40-year-old male was found to be on a Release Order with conditions not to possess weapons and not to possess or consume alcohol.  The male was also in possession of a bottle of liquor.  As a result, he was arrested for Failing to comply with a Release Order x2.  He was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and he is scheduled to appear in court today.

On February 21, 2023, Brandon police received a report of a youth who had been chased by a group of girls and had her backpack stolen near a high school in Brandon.  One of the suspects, a 14-year-old female, was also on an Undertaking with a condition not to attend the high school. 

On February 24, 2023, the victim was assaulted by the same 14-year-old female at a business in the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue.  On March 8, 2023, the 14-year-old female attended BPS and she was arrested for Robbery, Failing to comply with an Undertaking and Assault.  She was later released on an Undertaking and she is scheduled to appear in court in April.

On March 8, 2023, police received a report of a male harassing a female in the 300 block of 10th Street.  The male was bound by a Court Order to stay away from the female.  As a result, he was arrested for Disobeying a Court Order.  He was later released on an Appearance Notice and he is scheduled to appear in court in April.

On February 14, 2023, Brandon police received a report of an assault at the Brandon Correctional Center.  A 20-year-old male inmate was reportedly acting erratically when the correctional officers directed him back into his cell.  The male then attempted to punch one of the guards in the face.  A brief struggle ensued as the guards tried to gain control of the inmate. During the altercation, the inmate bit one of the guard’s hands and pinched the other guard’s fingers in the chain of the handcuffs.  On March 8, 2023, police arrested the 20-year-old inmate for Assault Peace Officer x3.  He remains in custody at the Brandon Correctional Center and he is scheduled to appear in court today.

On March 8, 2023, police received a report of a structure fire at a residence in the 400 block of 2nd Street.  Upon arrival, flames were visible on the front porch of the residence.  Members evacuated the residents from the house.  No injuries were reported.  Brandon Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the fire.  The fire was mainly contained to the front porch area of the house.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Arrest Warrants:

On March 8, 2023, police located and arrested a 27-year-old female who was wanted on an outstanding charge of Fail to Appear in Court.  She was later released on an Appearance Notice and she is scheduled to appear in court in April.

On March 8, 2023, police attended a residence in the 00 block of 10th Street to arrest a 21-year-old female on an outstanding charge of Fail to Appear in Court.  She was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and she is scheduled to appear in court today.

On March 8, 2023, police attended a residence in the 200 block of 9th Street to arrest a 61-year-old male on an outstanding charge of Fail to Appear in Court.  He was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and he is scheduled to appear in court today.
