On January 11, 2023, a member of the Brandon Police Service K9 unit conducted a traffic stop on the Trans-Canada Highway. Police Service Dog Storm was deployed and gave a positive indication for narcotics inside the vehicle. Police say that during the search of the vehicle, a hidden compartment was found, which contained over 700 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine inside several vacuum sealed packages. The estimated street value of the illicit drugs is over $70,000.

BPS says a 20-year-old man from Edmonton, Alberta was arrested for Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Crack Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and is scheduled to appear in court today.

On January 12, 2023, police received a report of a 46-year-old male that was banging on doors and indicating he had been stabbed in the 800 block of 5th Street. Upon arrival, police located the victim who had suffered multiple stab wounds and an injured arm. The victim was uncooperative and would not provide any information to police. He was transported by ambulance to Brandon Regional Health Center with non-life threatening injuries. Police were able to follow a blood trail to a nearby residence. Entry was made into the residence to ensure all other occupants were safe. No other victims were located inside the residence. At this time, no suspects have been identified. On January 11, 2023, Brandon police received a report of a disturbance at a business in the 00 block of 9th Street. A 37-year-old woman was reportedly intoxicated and causing problems for the employees. The female was arrested to prevent further issues and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On January 11, 2023, police located and arrested a 23-year-old female who was wanted on an outstanding charge of Fail to Appear for Ident x2. She was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in February 2023.
