With day camps being an option in Manitoba since Phase 1 of re-opening the province, the City of Brandon is excited to announce its youth summer camps will begin June 29th.
To limit the potential threat of COVID-19 Heather Reimer, the City’s Parks and Rec Manager says they’re following public health orders and the child care centre sanitzation and prevention guidelines, “We do have our programmers back and their looking at the specifics of safe drop offs and pick ups and how that will look and sanitizing everything thats needed throughout the day.”
When it comes to activities, Reimer says there may be a few they will need drop that would normally be offered, but for the most part, they’ll be modify to keep kids safe, “For simple things like arts and crafts it’ll just be making sure each kid has their own equipment and that they aren’t sharing scissors and gluesticks.”
Due to the province’s number restrictions, you’ll want to sign up fast. This years camps will run out of two locations; the Sportsplex located 30 Knowlton Drive and the Youth Centre at 638 Princess Avenue, with a limit of 20 spots at each facility.
