We’ve got one more day of cold temperatures before a warm-up with snow on Wednesday, Dec 8th.
For Tuesday, December 7th, Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for:
City of Brandon
Mun. of Glenboro-South Cypress incl. Treesbank
Mun. of Norfolk Treherne
Mun. of North Cypress-Langford incl. Neepawa and Carberry
Mun. of North Norfolk incl. MacGregor Sidney and Austin
Mun. of Oakland-Wawanesa incl. Carroll
R.M. of Cornwallis west of Shilo incl. Chater
R.M. of Elton incl. Forrest
R.M. of Victoria incl. Holland and Cypress River
A period of very cold wind chills is expected.
Extremely cold wind chill values near minus 40 are expected.
Wind chill values will develop overnight tonight and moderate during the day on Tuesday.
Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables.
If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
