Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for the City of Brandon including:
Mun. of Glenboro-South Cypress incl. Treesbank
Mun. of Norfolk Treherne
Mun. of North Cypress-Langford incl. Neepawa and Carberry
Mun. of North Norfolk incl. MacGregor Sidney and Austin
Mun. of Oakland-Wawanesa incl. Carroll
R.M. of Cornwallis west of Shilo incl. Chater
R.M. of Elton incl. Forrest
R.M. of Victoria incl. Holland and Cypress River
A long period of extreme wind chill is expected as an Arctic air mass sets in over the eastern Prairies. Wind chill values near minus 40 will continue today (Sunday) and persist into next week. The extreme wind chill values will moderate slightly during the day, but will return overnight for the next few nights.
Extreme cold puts evryone at risk.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.
