Moose Lake RCMP respond to shooting

Pembina Valley RCMP respond to break-in

On March 18, 2023, at approximately 5:10 am, Moose Lake RCMP responded to a call of shots fired on Portage Road in the community.

As officers were responding, they received a second call of an injured male on Stagg Crescent. They attended and located a 38-year-old male who had been shot. Officers immediately transported him to the nursing station. He was later transported out of the community for further treatment. His injuries are serious but believed to be non-life threatening.

The investigation led officers to identify a suspect and at approximately 12:20 pm, a 17-year-old male from the community was arrested. He has been charged with:

Aggravated Assault
Discharge Firearm with Intent
Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
Possession of Firearm when knowing Possession is Unauthorized
Fail to Comply x5

He was remanded into custody.

Moose Lake RCMP continue to investigate.

On March 16, 2023, at approximately 4:45 pm, Pembina Valley RCMP responded to a possible break-in at a residence on Main Street, in St. Leon, Manitoba.

While officers were en route they were advised the suspect had left in a black truck. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and fled.

Officers continued to patrol and located the vehicle stuck in deep snow near Road 54W and 11N, and a male fleeing on foot. Officers contained the area and after a search the suspect was located approximately 2 kilometers from the vehicle and was arrested without incident.

Wesley Kowal, 28, was found to have several warrants from other Provinces. He has been charged with:

Flight from Police x2
Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime x2 
Resist Arrest
Fail to Comply x3

He was remanded into custody. 

RCMP continue to investigate.
