There’ll be no changes when Brandon kids head back to school next month.
School Division Superintendent Dr. Marc Casavant says the city’s “Orange” restricted level doesn’t really have a big impact on how schools will operate – they’re going ahead with the Level 2 blended model.
“K to 8 students go back 5 days a week, special needs students go back 5 days a week, and the high schools – the Grades 9 to 12 – will go back to 50% – Ato K go back one day – and L to Z will go back another day,” says Casavant.
He says teachers are to create a two-day lesson plan for in-class one day – and then home-work the second day.
As for health procedures, Casavant says there will be plenty of sanitizing.
“Hand sanitizer will be available at entrances and exits of our schools and in all classrooms. Cleaning solution will be available in all classrooms. High-touch surfaces will be cleaned throughout the day. We’re asking staff to stay home if they’re ill, and we’re asking students to stay home if they’re ill,” says Casavant.
Masks will be mandatory in schools for Grades 4 to 12.
Casavant says the education plan is fluid and can change at any time.
