Back on June 24, 2020, at roughly 9:30 pm, RCMP responded to a report of found human remains near Baker Street, in Portage la Prairie. An investigation from officers determined that it was a homicide.
The RCMP conducted a thorough review of all reported missing persons within Manitoba and Canada and no reports matched the description of the victim.
Last Friday (July 10) police provided a description of the victim and a plea for information about his identity was released. The RCMP have received multiple tips over the past 5 days but the identity of the victim is still unknown. However, based on some new information, it is now believed that the man is somehow associated to Winnipeg. He may have been living in Winnipeg or traveling through the city around the time when he was murdered.
The victim is described as:
– Male
– Between the ages of 20-40
– 5’7″ – 6’2″ in height
– Has scoliosis of the spine (curvature of the spine)
– Light brown hair, possibly medium length
– Was possibly residing in Winnipeg or traveling through the area
If anyone has not seen or heard from a loved one, a friend, a relative, or an acquaintance, in the last few weeks that matches the description of the victim, they are asked to call the RCMP.
But it doesn’t end there as RCMP have provided additional information. Based on extensive investigative work, officers believe that the victim’s body was placed near Baker Street in Portage la Prairie on June 20, 2020, between 3:00 am and 5:00 am. The new timeline is a significant development and officers are asking anyone who was driving near Baker Street or lives close to the area and may have seen something suspicious to contact the tip line.
The RCMP is specifically asking for help identifying four individuals who were seen on June 20, 2020, traveling together in the area in a dark colored SUV. At 4:00 am, four individuals stopped at the Shell/Circle K convenience store at 327 Saskatchewan Avenue, in Portage la Prairie.
