On January 20, 2023, at approximately 4 :00 pm, RCMP responded to an assault in the 100 block of 5th Avenue NE, in Portage la Prairie.
Officers responded, located the suspect in the area, and he was arrested without incident. A search of the male resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm.

The 20-year-old female victim did not require medical attention.
Noel Beaulieu-Davis, 20, of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
Assault
Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Carry Concealed Weapon
Careless Transportation of a Firearm
Possession of a Firearm When Knowing Possession is Prohibited
Possession of Firearm While Prohibited x2
Fail to Comply x3
He was remanded into custody.

And on January 23, 2023, at 3:30 am, officers from the God's Lake Narrows RCMP received a report of an altercation at a residence located in the community. It was reported that an injured male had been transported to the nursing station.
Officers attended to the nursing station and located a 51-year-old male, from God's Lake Narrows, who had been pronounced deceased.
His death is being treated as a homicide.
God's Lake Narrows RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
