UPDATE: The alert issued was reportedly a test. There was no change in the water level at Rivers Dam when the alert was issued.
ORIGINAL: The province has issued an emergency alert through the Weather Network Friday (July 3) afternoon just before 3:30.
The alerts states the Manitoba Infrastructure is advising a possible dam failure at the RIVERS RESERVOIR DAM could occur within 24 hours.
This will result in extreme flooding and dangerous situations. Residences in the affected area should prepare to evacuate if advised by the municipality.
It’s recommended to avoid water bodies, valleys, low lying areas and affected areas.
Move to higher ground if required and avoid flooded areas.
Do not attempt to cross fast flowing waters or waters of unknown depth.
Use caution when driving on all roads as road conditions may have changed.
