Some of Manitoba’s best talent will be returning to the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair later this month.
Joining the ranks of the top international equestrian riders, barrel racers and hackneys, the Fair has announced plans to host the 48th annual Royal Fiddlers’ Contest on Wednesday, March 29th at 7:00 pm.
Entries for the Show, which will be held in the Manitoba Hydro Amphitheatre, are now being accepted online at www.provincialexhibition.com. The deadline to enter online is Friday, March 24th, however, participants will have the opportunity to take advantage of in person registration from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
This year’s Winter Fair will run from Monday, March 27th to Saturday, April 1st in Brandon’s Keystone Centre.
Contestants will be allowed to play in one of the following Old Time Fiddle Classes – 7 and under, 8-10 years, 11-13 years, 14-16 years, 17 and older, and seniors (55 plus).
In addition to the Old Time classes, the event will feature Metis-style Fiddle classes – 10 and under, 11-16 years, 17 and older – and are open to all fiddlers, regardless of ethnicity.
