Saskatchewan trucker charged in fatal highway crash in Manitoba July 2nd

A 7-year-old girl and a 63-year-old man were killed near Fannystelle

A 56-year-old man from Shellbrook, Saskatchewan faces multiple charges in connection with a fatal 8 vehicle pile-up on Highway 2 near Fannystelle, Manitoba on July 2nd.

A 7-year-old girl from Winnipeg, and a 63-year-old man from the RM of St. Andrews, died at the scene.

Police say 15 people were hurt in the crash - and six were taken to hospital.

A 22-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl remain in hospital with serious injuries. A 10-year-old girl has been released from hospital. All three were travelling in a van with 4 other occupants, a 26-year-old female driver, two children under 3 years of age, and the 7-year-old girl who was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

James Randell is accused of driving his semi-trailer into a line of vehicles stopped at a construction zone.

Police say he was charged with two counts of Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death, two counts of Criminal Negligence Causing Death, and three counts of Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm.
