As Manitobans gear up for summer, Travel Manitoba is launching a new mobile passport featuring tasty eats and fun rewards called the Manitoba Perogy Trail.
A media release today says “The free digital program is sponsored by local company Perogy Planet and features a food trail connecting more than 50 restaurants in Manitoba-all serving up delicious perogies.
Restaurant goers can download the trail to their mobile phone. A map tool helps users discover Perogy Trail restaurants in their area and across the province. After 25 visits to restaurants on the trail, participants can earn a special perogy pin to celebrate their achievement.”
“We launched this digital pass to inspire Manitobans to visit their favourite restaurants or discover new ones while earning fun rewards,” said Cody Chomiak, Travel Manitoba’s Vice-President of Marketing. “Manitoba is home to a variety of diverse culinary experiences, and top among them is the perogy. The Manitoba Perogy Trail brings together several restaurants serving this culinary dish in one easy-to-use digital pass.”
Travel Manitoba also says “When the Manitoba Perogy Trail reaches 1,000 collective check ins, Perogy Planet will donate $5,000 to the Ukrainian Canadian Cultural Centre (Oseredok).”
“When we approached Perogy Planet as a sponsor, we also wanted to give back to the Ukrainian community here in Manitoba,” said Chomiak, noting that Oseredok is one of the largest Ukrainian heritage resource centres in North America. “We know Manitobans will rise to the challenge and help us reach 1,000 check ins.”
“The Manitoba Perogy Trail is a great initiative to encourage Manitobans to check out our incredible culinary scene and perhaps even discover a new favourite restaurant just in time for summer,” said Shaun Jeffrey, CEO of the Manitoba Restaurant & Foodservices Association. “It’s a fun idea that supports a great cause”.
For a limited time, when you download the trail and check in to 10 locations you’ll be entered for a chance to win one of ten gift cards to Perogy Planet, valued each at $100.
The Manitoba Perogy Trail is free to use by residents and visitors to Manitoba and is available for download at https://www.travelmanitoba.com/things-to-do/passes/manitoba-perogy-trail/
