The Pierson Recreation Rejuvenation Committee is planning for a large-scale development aiming to bring new, four-season recreation opportunities to residents of the Two Borders area.
Located in the current Edward Sports Grounds, the project will feature a 20-foot-high toboggan hill, with varying access, as well as seating and lighting for winter evening experiences. Near the new hill, a specially designed pump track of landscaped bicycle features will provide the perfect setting for riders of all levels, helping build bicycle skills at an early age.
The project will also highlight an accessible 9 – hole mini-golf course. This course is designed for Manitoba weather and will provide another option for people of all ages and abilities to get outside and enjoy the park. The development will be accentuated by a .5 km accessible walking trail, which will run the perimeter of the grounds, providing another all – season option to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.
The project is aimed to be completed for use by the public by Spring 2023, with finishing touches including seating and landscaping taking place Summer 2023. The total project value to be fundraised is $250,000.
Valleyview Co-op presented the Pierson Creation Rejuvenation Committee with a cheque for $25,000 to sponsor the new accessible walking trail at their AGM on June 8th, 2022.
