Your dog is apparently NOT susceptible to contracting COVID-19 – but it could infect your cat.
PhD student Saby Mathavarajah at Dalhousie University in Halifax says a number of different feline species are susceptible including cheetahs, leopards, tigers and lions – but not dogs, bears, pigs, chickens and ducks.
He says you don’t have to worry about getting COVID-19 from your cat – but keeping them away from other cats and people would keep everyone safe.
The report also says while mammalian species are the most susceptible to the virus, there are also a few fish, bird and reptile species that are likely susceptible.
In addition, it was also suggested that rabbits, another common pet, may be more susceptible than cats to the virus.
