Sitting in my lawn chair Saturday morning looking out at the lake enjoying my coffee and the blissfully quiet serenity of cabin life. The fog was lifting off the lake and the dew was glistening in the morning sun. I was lost in my own thoughts and thinking “it doesn’t get any better than this”. All of a sudden a sharp knife like pain ripped through my little toe. I jumped out of my chair and kicked off my Croc wondering what the heck was happening. The biggest ant I’ve ever seen climbed out of my shoe and was immediately met with an untimely death as I stomped the little pest that had made a meal out of my toe. The pain was only momentarily excruciating but my toe was numb for two days. I wasn’t even aware that we have biting ants in our region. Apparently I was wrong. Once bitten, twice shy. From now on I’ll be enjoying my morning coffee in sneakers.
Ouch!
