Giving a gift is one thing, demanding the gift back when it becomes worth somthing is another.
A gift or a present is an item given to someone without the expectation of payment or anything in return. That was not the case with this woman. She went onto the popular forum Reddit to ask if she was in the wrong during a certain situation. The woman explained that she had fallen on hard times, being laid off from her job, scrounging together money for bills and living off ramen for the majority of her meals. Her nephew's birthday was coming up and all she could afford was a lottery ticket. The ticket turned out to be a winner in the large 5 figure range. What happened next seems to have the internet divided. She asked for 3/4 of the winnings to be given to her, because she needed the money more than her nephew. Her family has reportedly blocked her and refuses to speak to her. This is not the first time a family has turned on each other over lottery wins, the video below shows another aunt and nephew going to court over a "chase the ace" win. Is she in the wrong for asking?
