Some people love them some people hate them, we are talking about those self-checkout machines at the grocery store.
Now whether you like them or you hate them you should probably get used to them especially if you shop at Walmart. The Retailer has announced that they are going to be converting some of their Canadian Stores to self-checkout only.
We don’t know if any in Manitoba will be converted, we know one store in BC will but that’s the only one that’s been named.
Walmart Canada said in a statement
“One of the new initiatives we will be testing is offering 100% self-cehckout by removing the traditional “Belted” checkout lanes. Our customers have embraced self-checkouts as they’ve rolled out across the country over the past few years. There will be no job loss as a result of this change”.
The fact that there will be no job loss makes me love this change. I don’t remember the last time I went to an actual cashier when getting grocery’s.
However, I understand it’s important to have both options. Self-checkout would be very tricky for someone who is visually impared so it’s going to be interesting to see how they balance it out.
Would you like to see this rolled out in Manitoba stores?
