It is crunch time at the Safeway Championship.
Brandon’s Rob Fowler will face Mike McEwen while top-seed Jeff Stoughton is going up against William Lyburn in A-Side qualifying games on Saturday morning at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg.
The winners will advance to the Page 1-1 Playoff.
"You know it’s coming right? You don’t want to take a misstep along the way and you know you’re going to collide with the top seeds eventually and we’re there now. Now is the time for us to play our best," said Fowler.
Brandonite Steve Irwin remains in the mix on the B-Side.
Irwin takes on Randy Neufeld while Steen Sigurdson squares off against Richard Muntain in elimination games.
Meanwhile, the 2015 Safeway Championship was been awarded to Brandon.
It’s the first time the provincial men’s curling championship will be held in the Wheat City since 2008.
"The Brandon curling community is excited to have the opportunity to host the 2015 championship. It is long past time for us to host another championship curling event. We earned a strong provincial, national and international reputation with past events and we look forward to renewing Brandon’s reputation as one of the best curling hosts," host committee co-chair Shawn Taylor in a media release.
The playdowns will run February 4th to 8th at Westman Communications Group Place.
