Shelly is hometown proud to boast she was born and raised in small town Baldur, she’s a veteran Radio and TV Broadcaster anchoring the news from Winnipeg to the Maritimes, to Global TV in Regina, and a producer at Canada AM in Toronto, and now, anchors your Q Morning news each weekday! I was born and raised on a farm in Saskatchewan. Why my parents didn’t go to the hospital is anybody’s guess. At five years old, I decided that the farm life wasn’t for me after relentlessly being chased by a rooster that made me scream and cry while my family would watch with glee. My mom and sister still delight in telling this story! I then headed for the bright lights of Calgary and enrolled in Clown College.
Fast forward a few years…I’m married to the amazingly wonderful Mrs. Zap and we have one incredible son, Young Zap. I’m a typical family guy, minus the talking dog, and have two cats named Carter and Izzy. When not spending time with my family, I can be found online getting owned by little kids on Call of Duty. Hobbies include: drinking coffee. Join me weekdays from 10 till 2 for Westman’s Best Country including Lunch with the Legends starting at Noon!

I’m that guy at the party that knows a strange amount of fun facts and trivia. I’m still trying to figure out how to be a dad, so don’t be surprised if I solicit you for advice… or help! I’m also known for talking to you about random pieces of information about bands and artists, whether you like their music or not and will most definitely quote movies that I have or haven’t seen…yet!

I was born and raised in Westman. From the mosquito-filled evenings around the campfire to winter nights spent skating and sipping hot chocolate, I’m extremely proud to call southern Manitoba my home! I graduated from the Interactive Media Arts Program at Assiniboine Community College in 2022. When I’m not singing along to Luke Combs or Morgan Wallen, you can find me glued to a TV screen cheering on one of my favourite sports teams.
