Brandon’s Lois Fowler captured the Provincial Senior Women’s Curling Championship on Sunday.
Fowler scored a deuce in the eighth and final end for a 6-4 victory over Hamiota’s Sandra Cowling in the final.
Fowler went undefeated in claiming her second straight title, but with an entirely different team than she had in 2013.
Fowler, third Maureen Bonar, second Cathy Gauthier and lead Allyson Stewart will now represent Manitoba at the 2014 Canadian Senior Championships being hosting at the Yellowknife Curling Centre March 22-30, 2014.
Fowler had beaten Cowling 6-4 in the 1-vs-1 Page Playoff game Saturday night to earn a spot in the final, while Cowling advanced with a 6-5 win over Stonewall’s Laurie Deprez in Sunday morning’s semifinal game.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Senior Men’s Curling Championship continues on Monday.
Carl German of East St. Paul won a three-team tiebreaker for second place in the Black Group on Sunday to become the fourth playoff team.
German will play Brandon’s Kelly McMechan in the 2-vs-2 Page Playoff game on 9:00 a.m. on Monday while defending champion Bob Sigurdson of West Kildonan and Neepawa’s Kelly Robertson will play in the 1-vs-1 Page Playoff game.
The semifinal is at 12:30 p.m. and the final at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
