The Brandon Bobcats are looking to take the next step on the soccer field.
Last year the men’s soccer soccer team made it into the semi-finals before falling to the number 1 ranked CMU Blazers.
Jesse Roziere took over has head coach this off season and tells CKLQ the team is using that loss as motivation
"You got to play the number 1 team like they did last year, and they put up quite the fight. You know what, a bounce and they would have been through and they battled for it. A lot of them have brought that through to this training camp and really want to build on that and take it to the next step."
One the players that was in the game semi-final was forward Osian Edwards who was given the nod as a conference all-star last season.
With the season set to begin Edwards says the vets are leading the way "Being familiar with the other teams and how they play. So stepping up with a few other players that have been here in the past is definitely huge. We rely on each other to bring the news guys up to speed and then hop right into getting some wins right away."
The Bobcats open the Manitoba Colleges Athletic season Saturday when they welcome Red River.
They get a rematch with the CMU Blazers on Sunday.
Both games are set for 3:15 at the field beside the Healthy Living Centre.
