The final preparations are underway at Vincent Massey for the provincial volleyball championships.
Jasmine Ransom will be be making here second trip to the AAAA JV championship.
Speaking to CKLQ Ransom says it’s a lot more challenging then the regular season.
"Definately tough out there then club season or other games. It’s high school championships so it’s all the best teams."
Her Coach Kelly Deroo adds that a banner has been the goal for the team since the first day of practice.
"We have a schedule practice on Sunday preparing for the provincial final. We’re not prepared to expect anything less of ourselves."
The Vikings JV Boys team will also be going after the AAAA championship.
Both tournaments begin Thursday in Winnipeg.
Vincent Massey will also see their boys and girls varsity teams compete for the provincial crown this weekend.
Both teams are ranked 5th heading into the regional tournament.
For boys coach Dan McMillan the focus is on the offence.
"We’ve got a good tall setter, a great passing team, effective hitters, but we don’t have a lot of size so passing will be a huge deal for us."
One of those hitters is Left Side Carter Hyra, he notes the team has a favourable match up to open play.
"We have a game against the 12th ranked team and we should be able to win that game." Hyra adds, "DMCI is a good team, they’re a really scrappy defence."
A win Friday for the boys will see them face 4th ranked MBCI on Saturday.
On the girls side Vincent Massey opens play against Sisler on Friday.
They will also face a 4th ranked MBCI squad Saturday if they win the opener.
