Saskatoon, SK (CKLQ) – It was deja vu for the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday night as they fell 4-1 to the Saskatoon Blades.
In an almost carbon copy game from Prince Albert, the Wheat Kings found themselves in a hole early. Cameron Hebig and Tyler Lees had first period goals as the Blades opened up an early lead.
Hebig would add another in the 2nd period while Chase Wouters scored his 4th of the year to help the Blades open up a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Brandon struggled to get anything going offensively both at even strength and on the powerplay (1/5). Just like Friday night, Tanner Kaspick scored the lone Brandon goal. His powerplay goal came with just 0:45 left in the 3rd period.
Ryan Kubic was named the games’ first star after making 32 saves for the win while Logan Thompson turned aside 19 of 23 shots he faced.
Brandon will now reset and welcome the Kootenay ICE for a pair of games next weekend.
