Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Bobcats men’s volleyball team blew a 2-0 set lead and the Winnipeg Wesmen came all the way back to force a Game 3 in the Canada West quarter-finals.
Brandon continued their hot streak after defeating the Wesmen in Game 1 in three straight sets winning the first two sets in Game 2.
They came out to a very early 10-2 lead in the first set on the way to winning 25-15.
In the second set, Brandon came back from 20-18 score to beat Winnipeg 25-23.
The third set followed the same pattern as the second but Winnipeg won it 25-23.
After that it was all Winnipeg with a very convincing 25-19 victory in the fourth.
In the fifth set, Brandon got out to a 4-1 lead, but Winnipeg came roaring back and tied it up at 4.
The two teams exchanged points until Winnipeg got a 9-8 lead and took it the rest of the way, winning with a score of 15-11.
Adrian Dyck led the way for the Wesman with 19 kills, while Daniel Thiessen scored 11 kills while only playing in four sets.
Brandon was led by Seth Friesen with 17 kills and Elliot Files with 15 kills.
With the win, Winnipeg forces a Game 3 back at the Healthy Living Centre at 4:00pm on Sunday.
