Edmonton, AB (CKLQ) – It was a lot closer than it looked, but the Brandon Bobcats men’s volleyball team outlasted the Alberta Golden Bears in three straight sets on Friday night in Edmonton.
The Bobcats won the sets 25-23, 26-24 and 33-31.
The win extends the Bobcats winning streak to nine games, with each game going just three sets.
Seth Friesen led Brandon with 20 kills and nine digs while Elliott Viles had 13 kills and seven digs.
Reece Dixon had 56 assists.
Brandon moved to #1 in the national rankings earlier in the week after defeating Trinity Western twice on home court last weekend.
Alberta is #4 in the country.
Meanwhile, in the women’s game, the Brandon Bobcats comeback was stopped short as the #5 Alberta Pandas won in four sets.
The scores were 25-19, 25-18, 17-25 and 27-25.
The Bobcats had three chances to win the fourth set but couldn’t seal the deal.
Both Bobcats teams play in rematches on Saturday night.
