Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – She’s rocked the curling world in her illustrious career becoming a a six time winner at the Scottie’s Tournament of Hearts, a two time world champion, and an Olympic gold medal winner.
Now, Jill Officer can add an another highlight to her impressive curling resume.
She has been named the Greatest Canadian Female Second of all-time in a poll conducted by TSN.
A panel composed of 31 curling personalities including broadcasters, reporters and elite-level curlers cast votes on a weighted point system.
With 8 points for a first place vote, 4 points for a second place vote, 2 points for third place and a single point for a fourth-place vote.
Officer received 24 of the first place votes.
The 43-year-old curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba played second for the teams skipped by Jennifer Jones from 2003 to 2018.
After announcing she was stepping away from curling this year she will have a different perspective at this year’s Scotties.
Instead of sweeping rocks and throwing peels, officer will act as an alternate for Team Jennifer Jones.
Officer also handles color analyst announcer duties for a variety of curling events.
