Three Brandon Wheat Kings and two additional Brandonites have cranked the NHL Central Scouting North American final rankings ahead of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
Braden Schneider is the highest rated Wheat Kings at #9, just one spot behind Prince Albert Raider defenseman Kaiden Guhle, who is the highest ranked WHL’er on the list.
Forward Ridly Greig moves up to #14, while Ben McCartney is ranked 153rd.
Brandonites Damon Hunt of the Moose Jaw Warriors and Tristan Robins of the Saskatoon Blades enter the list at #25 and #86 respectively.
Rimouski forward Alexis LaFreniere remains the top ranked North American born skater while Quinton Byfield of the Sudbury Wolves and Jake Sanderson of the US National Development Program round out the top three.
The draft was scheduled for the last weekend in June at the Bell Centre in Montreal, but last month the NHL announced that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the draft proceedings would be changed. There has been no official word on how the NHL plans to proceed with this years selection process.
