Flooding has closed Rivers Provincial Park until July 9th, and maybe longer.
The Manitoba government says the Kiche Manitou Campground is also closed at Spruce Woods Provincial Park, in the lower campground, because the possibility of flooding on the Assiniboine River. It’s closed until July 6th, and possibly longer.
The province says anyone with a reservation will be notified.
The City of Brandon has sealed-up it’s dike system at Grand Valley Road and 18th Street in preparation for high water on the Assiniboine River. The river is expected to peak between Sunday and Wednesday – and is not anticipated to top the dike built up to 1,186 feet above sea level.
At last report, the Rivers Dam was still intact. It’s being monitored and minor repairs are on-going. High water on the Little Saskatchewan River has forced the evacuation of about 40 properties downstream from the dam.
