The town of Melita, MB is in mourning after two local teens lost their lives last Friday after a tornado touched down south of Virden.
RCMP believe Shayna Barnesky and Carter Tilbury, both aged 18, were ejected from a vehicle that was swept up and tossed into a field.
About a kilometre away, a man in another vehicle, a 54-year-old from Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
A memorial is being planned for the teenagers with details still being worked out to ensure COVID-19 physical distancing guidelines can be maintained.
The EF-2 tornado, with winds up to 190-kilometres-an-hour, also caused extensive damage to a farm.
