City Streets are busy again. Local retail stores are bustling. It seems as though a majority of people have become a bit complacent and reverted back to a “normal” life. Statistics Canada has released a report that Canadian retail sales are back to pre-coronavirus levels which tells me that, either people are tired of practising safety measures amid the pandemic, or they just don’t care anymore. This mindset is dangerous at best. Active numbers are increasing daily and the Prairie Mountain Health region has just been placed in the Orange category, which means we have to go back to increased restrictions. I understand, and completely respect, that everyone has their own theory on Covid-19 and what does or does not need to be done to minimalize the effects on our community. For me the answer is clear, protect yourself, protect others, and follow the guidelines set forth for us. With so many shopping options available, like home delivery and curbside pickup, is it really worth the risk wandering around the stores if you don’t really need to?
