Manitoba has recorded the 14th death from COVID-19, a woman in her 90’s from the Southern Health region. The was linked to an outbreak at the Bethesda Place care home in Steinbach.
The province is also reporting 22 new cases, nine of which are in the Prairie Mountain Health region.
Health officials say there are 407 active cases, six people are in the hospital, including one in intensive care, and 643 people have recovered.
Meanwhile effective Friday (Aug 28) public health orders will require Manitobans to self-isolate for 14 days if they’ve tested positive for COVID-19 or have been exposed to a close contact, or until they are directed otherwise by a public health official.
Exceptions will be made for in-person appointments with health care providers. However, if a person leaves their home, they must wear a mask, maintain physical distancing and minimize the time away from their self-isolation location.
Failure to follow the public health advice will be considered a violation of the order and is enforceable under The Public Health Act. Manitoban’s failing to follow the protocol could be subject to a fine pf $486.
