I like to consider myself a fairly savvy shopper when it comes to groceries. I have my one store that I favor but I also check around to see if the items I need are on sale somewhere and I shop accordingly. I also buy things in quantity when they are on sale. Lately I’ve noticed a rise in the price of just about everything on the shelves. Cleaning supplies and disinfectant I understand. It’s basic supply and demand. I’ve always questioned why healthy fresh produce is way more expensive than junk food but lately I’ve found it’s gotten even worse. The other day I picked up a bag of green grapes, not a huge bag, probably a couple of pounds. I was completely shocked when it rang through at over $12 and immediately told the cashier I did not want them at that price. It made me understand why kids are getting chips and cookies in their lunches instead of fruit and veggies. How are people supposed to feed their families at these prices?
