An email was sent to parents today saying that Manitoba Public Health has a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the 5/6 Penner Classroom at École New Era School
École New Era is working closely with public health officials and following their recommendations.
Public Health is investigating to identify individuals who may have been exposed within 24 hours of a confirmed laboratory test. Anyone identified as a close contact is contacted and provided instructions for self-isolation (quarantine). Testing may also be recommended.
The person who tested positive for COVID was at the school on Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The risk at the school is considered low, since the person practised physical distancing and wore a mask according to the province.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Brandon School Division is having École New Era School thoroughly deep cleaned over the weekend and will be ready for students and staff on Monday. The case was NOT acquired at school
Please note: the school is not permitted to release the name or any identifying information about the confirmed case of COVID-19 to any member of the school, community or media.
