If you’re used to getting a double-cup to keep your hot double-double from burning your hand – those days are over.
Tim Hortons is ending the practice, and will instead provide you with a cup sleeve.
Tims says ending double-cupping is expected to eliminate about 200-million cups from hitting landfills every year.
They say they’re currently working with suppliers on getting recyclable and biodegradable cups.
Tim Hortons is also phasing out plastic straws, will soon roll out new recyclable wrappers for sandwiches and bagels, and plans to introduce new paper napkins that use 25% less material and are made up of 100% recycled fibre. This change, in early 2021, is expected to save 900 tonnes of paper a year.
Tim Hortons has 4,000 restaurants across Canada.
